We are simply a group of people who have put
their faith in Jesus Christ our Lord for salvation. This
salvation was required because, in common with everybody else,
we are sinners in the sight of God (Rom 3:23) and can do nothing
of ourselves to merit God's favour. However Jesus Christ, the
Eternal Son of the Eternal God, became a man and gave His life
on the cross of Calvary to pay the penalty for our sin. It is
through repentance for our sin and by faith in Jesus Christ that
we have salvation and fellowship again with God.
We do not belong to any ‘organisation’ or
‘denomination’. We believe that each church, or assembly, is a
fully independent body. There are ‘sister’ churches in the area,
throughout the country and worldwide but each is fully
independent, shepherded by a group of elders who are responsible
only to God for this activity.
What do we believe?
|
The Lord Jesus Himself said:
"I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no
man cometh unto the Father, but by Me."
The Bible explains that there is a broad way that leads to destruction and a
narrow way that leads to life (Matthew 7:13,14). If we remain in our sin, we
remain on the broad way that leads to destruction. God sent His Son (the Lord
Jesus), so that all may believe on Him and be on the narrow way that leads to
life. It's surprising how many try and find their own way to warrant a place in
heaven. The work has been done. The Lord Jesus sacrificed His life, so that we
may live. His blood was shed on our behalf and for our sin. Will you believe on
the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved (Acts 16:31)?
What we
believe, and our scriptural authority for these beliefs, is:
- the divine inspiration of the
Scriptures, the Holy Bible,
(2 Tim 3:16)
- the need for salvation from
sin,
(1 Tim 2:1-5)
- the need for baptism by
immersion as an outward witness of that salvation,
(Acts
8:35-38)
- the need to meet together as
believers for the remembering of the Lord and His death, prayers,
Bible teaching,
(Acts
2:42)
and
- the need to reach out to those
who do not know Christ as Saviour so that they may hear the good
news of the Gospel.
(Mark
16:15)
